Established in 1986

Alpha Running, formerly Alpha Sports, was established in 1986. Our staff are fully trained to a medical bio mechanical standard and are also runners themselves. We receive daily referrals from Hospital Consultants, Surgeons, G.P’s, Doctors, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors etc. for gait related medical complaints such as Plantar Fasciitis, ITB syndrome, shin splints and other functional disorders which seem to be on an increase. You are assured of expert attention to help you with your choice.

Gait Analysis

THIS SERVICE IS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

For both walking and road running we recommend a motion gait analysis.
This service is £20 or free of charge when purchasing trainers on the same day.
Gait analysis takes approximately half an hour and involves a few 20 second runs on the treadmill.
Please wear or bring along any running shoes that you have been using, as well as your shorts or tights; we have a changing room in store.

Plantar Fasciitis Assessment

Plantar Fasciitis is a condition which can cause heel pain. It happens when the strong band of tissue on the sole of your foot (fascia) becomes irritated.

We provide a purpose built specific plantar support orthose, which work extremely well alongside a short consultation in store or by telephone for our online customers. The price of this, including orthotics, is an unbelievable £35.
